Clothesline Art Show August 15 2010

Come enjoy two great festivals at one great place, August 15th, from 10 to 4 at the Coast Collective. Our Second Annual Clothesline Art Show and Festival of Animals combine for our biggest (and sadly last) outdoor event of the summer.
I’ll be there showing a variety of work including new pieces where I’ve embellished my canvas prints with acrylic gel.

Clothesline Art Show at the Coast Collective
Imagine acres of art – strung between the trees, propped on logs, nestled into tents – all beside a beautiful blue lagoon. Imagine watching artists at work. Imagine the sounds of Brad Prevedoros classical and Celtic guitar resonating throughout the 11 acres of bird sanctuary and gardens. Add food, beer and wine and more on the beautiful grounds of the Coast Collective. Imagine being part of it all. Over 30 local artists will display their work on the grounds, in addition well over 100 artists already showing their work in our Gallery and Gift Shops.

As a very special part of this year’s Clothesline Show, Emily van Lidth de Jeude will bring the MAMA Project — larger-than-life portraits of mothers and their stories, a traveling art project that empowers mothers by inspiring and facilitating expression and dialogue about motherhood. For the MAMA Project, Emily interviewed 20 mothers of varying backgrounds, gathered their words and expressions, and put them together to form an installation of mothers’ experience in words and portraiture. An amazing experience!

As a complement to the “Critters and Creatures” Art Show in the Gallery, we’re also holding a Festival of Animals on the same day. Animal rescue and support groups including SPCA Wild Arc, Greater Victoria Animal Crusaders, Alternative Wildlife Solutions, Victoria Lost Pets, Victoria Adoptables, Cats Cradle Animal Rescue and more will have informational displays scattered across the Coast Collective grounds. If you love animals, come learn more about how to help them from fellow animal-lovers.

There will be something for everyone – we hope to see you there!
